Your privacy matters to us. This page explains what information CSS Portal (cssportal.com) collects when you use the site and its tools, why, and the choices you have. The second half sets out the terms of using the site.
1. The short version
- You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name, email address or other personal details to use the site.
- Most tools run entirely in your browser. The code you paste into them isn't sent to us.
- Your favorites and some tool settings are saved in your own browser, not on our server.
- The site is supported by advertising. Our advertising partners, such as Google, use cookies to show and measure ads.
2. Code you put into the tools
Generators, converters, formatters and most other tools work inside your browser. The CSS, HTML, JavaScript, images or other content you paste, type or open in them stays on your device and isn't uploaded or stored by us.
A few features need our server to fetch something for you, because browsers can't load other websites directly. For example, scanning a web address in the Unused CSS Finder fetches that public page and its files, and the Google Fonts tool fetches font files from Google. In these cases our server requests the address you entered and passes the result straight back to your browser. We don't keep the content, and these requests only reach public web addresses.
Please don't paste passwords, keys or other confidential information into any online tool.
3. What your browser saves
Some features use your browser's local storage, a small storage area on your own device that we can't read from our server:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Favorites | The pages you bookmark with the button, so the Favorites page can list them. |
| Tool settings | Options you choose in a tool, such as indentation or a selected tab, so they are remembered next time. |
| Display preferences | Choices such as light or dark mode. |
This information stays in your browser until you remove it. You can delete it at any time by removing your favorites on the Favorites page or by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
4. Advertising and cookies
CSS Portal is free because it shows ads. We use third-party advertising companies, including Google, to serve these ads. These companies may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites (not your name, address, email address or telephone number), so they can show ads that may interest you, limit how often you see an ad and measure how ads perform.
Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. Where the law requires it, you will be asked for your consent before these cookies are used.
Your choices
- Turn off personalised ads from Google in My Ad Center.
- Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and how Google uses cookies in advertising.
- Opt out of personalised ads from many other companies at aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You'll still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you.
5. Server logs
Like almost every website, our web server automatically records basic technical details of each request: the IP address, date and time, the page requested, the browser's user agent and the referring page. We use these logs to keep the site running, fix errors and protect it against abuse. They are kept only for a limited time and are not used to identify visitors.
6. Your choices and rights
Because we don't ask for personal details, we usually hold no information that identifies you. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to how it is used. For information collected by our advertising partners, please use their tools listed above.
CSS Portal is a general-audience site for web developers and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
8. Terms of use
By using this website, you agree to these terms and to all applicable laws and regulations, and you are responsible for complying with any local laws that apply to you. If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use the site.
Use of the site and its content
The content of this site, including its text, design and tools, is protected by copyright and trade mark law. You're free to use the code that the tools generate for you in your own personal and commercial projects.
